| My grandparents were Perry Owen BAILEY and Aggie Bartina COX. Perry was born in Greenhill, Warren County, Indiana 1877 . Aggie was born 1882. They were married in Newton County, Indiana 1899. Their marriage produced 12 children, 10 who survived to adulthood. Four of these children survive,(April 5, 2009) the oldest being 91 . This family has a history of longevity. Aggie passed away in 1981 , just shy of her 99th birthday. There were over 200 living descendants at that time. The BAILEY ancestors came to this country about 1690 and settled in Sussex County, Delaware, then migrating on to Ohio and then to Warren County, Indiana. Milford, Indiana / Green Hill, Indiana First Indiana Home for The BAILEY Family Warren County, Indiana is located west of Lafayette, Tippecanoe County, Indiana. The town of Milford, renamed Green Hill in 1869 is a short distance west of the Tippecanoe/ Warren County line, about two miles south of Indiana Route 26 . William B. BAILEY and Horatio BAILEY migrated from Ohio in about 1826-1827 to Warren County, Indiana. They settled with their families along Little Pine Creek in what later became Medina Township, Warren County, Indiana. Previously this area was part of Fountain County. The named the town Milford after the town in Delaware where their immigrant ancestor, Jonathon BAILEY had lived 1690-1730. This area that they chose for their new home was wooded and had a good supply of water, these were primary concerns of the early settlers. The BAILEY brothers set up and ran a water-powered sawmill for several years. In those days the homes were built of logs. The prairies of Indiana and Illinois stretched far to the west of the little town. From all accounts Green Hill was a pretty little town with several churches and the Seminary which was built in 1869. Green Hill is a quiet place now, some of the old store buildings are still standing and quite a few families still make their home there. Most of the early BAILEYs are buried at the DAVIS Cemetery about a mile outside of the town. ~ebm~ I have a lot of family history to share with anyone researching these lines. ~~~~~~~~~~ My other research includes the familes : COX, SALLEE , DAVID, BABCOCK, DAWSON Included on this page is a Genealogy Report for Israel Lincoln COX and Matilda Ann DAVID , the parents of Aggie B.
