Maternal Ancestors -- Leon KRAJENTA, was born in Uniejewo, Poland (near Plock). He was one of 9 brothers who eventually moved away from the village of origin to other locations in Poland. Leon married Cecilia JARZYNSKI and they had at least one son Waclaw (Walter)KRAJENTA, was born in 1889 in Czachowek, Warszawa, Poland. Waclaw arrived in the US in October,1906 at Baltimore MD. It is not known if Walter had any siblings. Cecilia JARZYNSKI had two brothers --Jozef and Stefan JARZYNSKI. Walter settled in Detroit, Michigan and on October 11, 1911 married GENOWEFA (Genia/Genevieve)STRZALKOWSKI who was born in Suchodol,Poland (near Plock).

Genowefa's parents were Mateusz STRZALKOWSKI and Mary MALINOWSKI. Genowefa had one brother, JOHN STRZALKOWSKI, and four sisters -- STANISLAWA (STELLA), HELEN, APPOLONIA (PAULINE), and BARBARA. All came to Detroit, Michigan at separate times (except BARBARA who married a man named RONOWSKI and who stayed in Poland.) Stella married Max BORNINSKI, Helen married Stefan JARZYNSKI, Pauline married Adam ZIOLKOWSKI. John STRZALKOWSKI never married.

Paternal Ancestors -- Michael Peter GALKA, was born in 1894 in Handzlowka, Podkarpackie, (near Lancut & Rzeszow), Poland. He arrived at the Port of New York in 1913 and went to Johnstown Pennsylvania where he stayed with cousins named SZAJNAR and worked in the coal mines. Michal was the oldest of 11 children born to Wojciech GALKA and Franciszka TROJNAR, 8 of whom survived to adulthood.

Michael's father Wojciech GALKA had come to Johnstown, PA a few years earlier in 1909 and then returned to Poland to bring his family to the US but he died before he could accomplish this.

Michael married Catherine BURDZEL in 1916 in Allegheny County, PA. Catherine's parents were Jan (John) BURDZEL (1876-1936)and Mary Ann CZEKAJSKI (1876-1939). John's parents were Joseph BURDZEL and Agnieszka SUROWIEC. Mary Ann's parents were John CZEKAJSKI and Catherine (maiden name unknown). Mary Ann had a brother Michal who died in a coal mining accident in Pennsylvania. She also had sisters Franciszka CZEKAJSKI who married Adam DZIEWIT, Helen CZEKAJSKI who married Walenty KLOC and Aniela (Nellie) CZEKAJSKI who married Tomasz KUSHNAR (KUZNIAR).
