7. JAMES2 MCKINNEY (CHARLES1) was born Abt. 1778 in Charlotte Co, Virginia, and died Bef. 14 July 1846 in Calloway Co, Missouri. He married LEVISA WHITLEY 10 July 1798 in Lincoln Co, Kentucky, daughter of WILLIAM WHITLEY and ESTHER.

AMES MCKINNEY:
Major James McKinney (War of 1812) moved with his parents from Virginia to Kentucky 1784-85 and they settled at Crab Orchard. In 1818 James went to Missouri and settled at St. Charles for 2 years and then in 1820 he bought Amos Kibbe's place in Grand Prairie, Calloway County, Missouri. He was a member of Ironside Baptist Church, an intelligent man and a useful citizen. He served as County Judge from 1827 to 1832. He had twelve brothers, three of whom were killed in the Revolutionary War.

James is also mentioned in The Draper Manuscripts and The Chestnut Tree. His will probated 14 July 1846 in Callaway County, Missouri.

Freeman McKinney joined General Walker's expedition against Central America and was killed with his commander.


8. DANIEL FUQUAY2 MCKINNEY (CHARLES1) was born 1779 in Charlotte Co, Virginia, and died Bef. 1850. He married (1) MARGARET ARBUCKLE 19 March 1800 in Charlotte Co, Virginia. He married (2) EFFA COMBS 01 October 1811. He married (3) HETHY Abt. 1820.

ANIEL FUQUAY MCKINNEY:
Daniel was not yet of age when he married Margaret Arbuckle. Rane McKinney, Daniel's brother, gave consent for Daniel to marry. Daniel was deeded land in Mercer County, Kentucky in 1800 (Deed Book 4, page 124). This was the home plantation given by his father, Charles, when Daniel reached the age of 21. He sold the plantation in 1803 to John Rochester (Deed Book 5, page 173).

Daniel and Rane McKinney are listed in tax and census records together until 1829 in Wayne and Pulaski Counties in Kentucky. Daniel appears on the 1840 Census of Logan County, Illinois. He used the name Daniel F. McKinney in all records. See The Chestnut Tree and Mercer County Kentucky Records, volume 2, page 76.

Hethy (surname unknown) was a Cherokee Indian. She is listed in the 1850 Census of Logan County, Illinois, living with her son, Abraham McKinney.
