4. MATTHEW2 MCGLASSON (WILLIAM SR.1) was born 03 January 1756 in Buckingham Co, Virginia, and died 30 June 1834 in Adair Co, Kentucky6. He married ELIZABETH CUNNINGHAM Abt. 1775 in Prob Virginia, daughter of THOMAS CUNNINGHAM.

ATTHEW MCGLASSON:
From Matthew McGlasson's Revolutionary War Pension Claim File (National Archives) S. 15530: Matthew McGlasson was born 3 January 1756 in Buckingham County, Virginia. While residing there he enlisted in October, 1778, and served 3 months as a private in Capt. Harden Perkins' company, Colonel Charles May's Virginia regiment. He moved to Amelia County, Virginia, and enlisted in February 1780 and served as a private in Capt. William Ford's company, Colonel John Calloway's Virginia regiment and was in the battle of Camden and several skirmishes, serving until August, 1781. He moved back to Buckingham County, and served about 10 days in Capt. Robert Cary's company, Colonel Cabell's Virginia regiment, and about 20 days as orderly sergeant in Capt. John Crouch's company, Colonel Dugit's regiment. When he was drafted in September of 1781 he hired a substitute as his wife was sick.

Soon after the war he moved to Charlotte County, Virginia, then to Campbell County, and in 1813, to Cumberland County, Kentucky. He was allowed pension on his application executed 1 October 1832, at which time he was living in Adair County, Kentucky. He referred to his wife as living during his service, but her name is not shown and there is no reference to children. His certificate was issued 7 February 1834.
