Wilkes Co., NC Will Book #2 Page 296 John Martins Will State of North Carolina| In the name of God Wilkes County| Amen I John Martin Sen. of the County & State aforesaid being of Sound & perfect mind & Memory blessed be god, do this twenty seventh day of May 1810 make & publish this my last will & Testament in manner following that is to say. First I give and bequeath unto my wife Elizabeth Martin the Tract of land where I now live on beginning on the River Bank at the mouth of the Still house branch & Running up the river to the b[??? fence that runs across the low grounds from the b[??? & then across the low grounds as the fence turns by the barn & up the Spring branch out to the back line then last with the back line down Square with the head of the Still house branch, then down the Still house branch to the begining Including all the Improvements thereon to hold in p?a?able Possess[ion during her widowhood & after her widowhood the above mentioned land to be added to my son Isaacs land that I give him adjoining above. Item, I give & bequeath unto my Daughter Fany Martin the fol lowing Negroes, Jinny, Sarah, Hubbard, Moses, ??? & David. Item, I give & bequeath unto my son Tho mas Martin the following Negroes to wit. Lucy, R[eu ben, George, Philis, Anthony & Priss. Item, I give and bequeath unto my son John Martin the following Negroes to wit. big Lucy, Phoebe, James & George, [??? ?? & Iba. Item I give & bequeath unto my son Isaac Martin the following Negroes to wit. Ame, Samuel, Mary, Juda, Peter & Ben. Item, I give and bequeath unto my son John Martin all my land below the Still house branch including the Su[??? pond tract the s? branch to be the line between & Isaac Martin beginning at the mouth & running up the branch to the head & on that course [on page 2 to the back line. Item, I give & bequeath un to my son Isaac Martin all the upper part of the tract of land I now live on known by the name of the horse shoe the Still house branch to be the line beginning at the mouth of s? branch Running up the branch to the head & down out to the back line through the s? Isaac Martin is to have no Possession of the part of this land which I have given unto my wife Elizabeth Martin until after her widowhood then her part to be the s?. Isaacs as the others. I also leave unto my wife Elizabeth Martin Ame & Phoebe during her widowhood, then to Return to the same Chil dren they are given to in the forgoing part of the Will to wit. Ame to Isaac Martin & Phoebe to John Martin. I also leave all the balance of my lands which has not been mentioned including the stills & the entry lying over the River on the waters of the little Elkin to be sold & the Money to be equally Divided amongst my four Children their names as follows Fany, Thomas, John, & Isaac. I also leave the whole of the Negroes that works in the Crop to work together until the Crop is finished & then the working hands to be clothed out of the Crop. I also leave unto my wife Elizabeth & my son Isaac twelve of the best hogs for pork to be fattened out of the Crop & about twenty eight of the middle Size for stock with a Couple of Sows the balance of the hogs to be equally divided amongst the four Children. I also leave four good Cows & Calves to my wife & Son Isaac for their use & the balance of stock of Cattle to be equallly Divided with the other three Children Fany, Thomas & John. I also leave three horses the young Farmer horse, the young Medley horse & the Monator horse to discharge a debt due to Meridith Thurmond on the twenty page 3 (298) | John Martins Will Continued July Sess.| 1810|Fifth day of December next. I also leave my wife Elizabeth the Chestnut Sorrel Mare and colt & my Son Isaac I give the Medley Mare the balance of my stock of Horses to be sold [??? the money to be equally divided amongst my four children Fany, Thomas, John & Isaac. I also give unto my two sons John Martin & Isaac Martin my largest Still & after this crop of Brandy is made I give unto my Son Thomas Martin my Small Still. I also leave the balance of my Crop and after One Hundred & fifty Barrels is left for the use of my wife Elizabeth & my son Isaac Martin & every other purpose complied with that is before mentioned, then the balance to be sold & the Money Equally Divided amongst the four Legatees. I also leave all my housefold furniture to my wife Eli zabeth until her death then to be equally Divided amongst my four children. I also leave what I have on hand to be sold to the best Advantage [???
