Wilkes Co., NC Will Book #4 Page 138 George Jones Will In the name of God amen I George Jones of Wilkes County and State of North Carolina be- ing at present in a low and feeble State of health and by the Mercy of God have arrived at the Advanced age of Eighty five Years and Cannot Reasonably Calculate much longer to exist in this World and believ- =ing my mental faculties to be of a Sound and disposing Character have thought proper to make a last Will and Testament. In manner and form as follows. (To wit.) Item 1st It is my Will and desire that from the proceeds of my Estate all my Just debts be Punctually paid the Greatest of which is a Mortgage bond to my two Sons Edmund & George, and some Notes due to Edmund and a debt due to my Son Hugh the ballance of my debts are but trifling. Item 2nd I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth Downs my Negroe Girl Jane and all the other property heretofore given her as her full porti- =on. To my daughter Nancy Mills I give my Negroe Girl Moriah and such other property as she had Received as her full portion. And to my daughter Lucy Jones I give my Negroe Girl Mary one feather bed and fur- =niture. And to my Grand daughter Delphia Jones, I give one feather bed and furniture and fifty dollars in money. And to my Sons Ed- =mond, George, Catlet and Thomas I give five dollars each. Item 3rd. I give and bequeath to my Son Hugh Jones the Tract of Land on which I now live on Fishers Creek, two beds, one Cow and to him and Lucy I give all my Household furniture not Specially Bequeathed. Item 4th I give to my Daughter Delphia G. Bryan my Ox cart now in her Pos- =session and one feather bed and furniture. And to my Daughter Phoebe Jones I give my black Mare, one Cow and calf, One feather bed & furniture and twenty dollars. Item 5th It is my Will and disire, that after my death that my Exeutor or Executors shall Advertise and Sell at twelve Months credit as much of my Estate both real and Personal as will be Sufficient to discharge page 2 All my debts and the Residue to be xxxxxxxx delivered over as above directed if any Surplus should be found or Remain not by this Will disposed of then my Son and daughter Hugh and Lucy Jones shall have the same. 6th and lastly it is my Will and desire that my two Sons Edmund & Hugh Jones be Executors to this my last Will & Testament and I do hereby Constitute and appoint them as Such.
