Lucy Fosters Will
                 In the name of God Amen, I Lucy Foster of the
County of Wilkes in the State of North Carolina, being at present in my usual State of
Health which is and has been for some years past quite delicate and as I believe in a
disposing mind and memory and being sensible of the Great uncertainty of life, Do
hereby order and direct the following to be my last Will and Testament in manner and
form as follows ToWit.  first It is my Will and desire that after my death as soon as
practicable that all my just debts be punctually discharged.
  Second  For ?????? good cause, and faithful Service, to me rendered by my 
negro woman Amy I direct and will that She be Set free and have out of my estate
one cow and calf one sow & pigs & five Barrels corn & one Hundred pounds of Pork or
Bacon.  Thirdly  For the love and regard I have for my Nephew Edmund Jones
and the further consideration of ?????? good Service rendered me by him, I give and
bequeath to him his heirs and assign forever my negro boy Edmund or one equal
him in value now if he should die before me.  This bequest is over and above
c]ertain debts which I now owe him or which I may hereafter owe him.
Fourthly-  As I have a great aversion to having my negroes Separated and Sold to
divers persons perhaps strangers It is therefore my will and desire that the residue
of my negroes after Amy and Edmund or one in his place as the case may be are
taken out be valued by three discreet disinterested freeholders to be chosen by my executor
to place a reasonable and moderate valuation on them and that my Nephew Edmund
J]ones my Executor take them at Said valuation, with a decuction of ten per cent
on their valuation for prompt payment to be distributed as hereinafter diected
And for the Said Consideration and distribution I will and direct that all the Said
residue of my negroes be forever hereafter the property of my Said Nephew and Executor
and his heirs and assigns.
Fifthly-  It is  my will and desire that out of the Net Proceeds of my estate my
executor make the following distribution.  To my beloved Niece ?iney Foster, wife of Akillad
Foster Two Hundred Dollars, To my niece Lucy Gilreath Two Hundred Dollars &
if She should die without issue the principal to go to my niece her sister Phebe
Jones or her heirs  To my niece Phebe Jones I give one Hundred Dollars

To my two Nephews John And Anthony Foster I give One Hundred Dollars
and what balance may then remain I give to my Sisters Ann Robins, Mary Robbins, F[rances
Jones Mildred Goforth, the heirs of my Sister Phebe Jones & Sarah Kindal dec'd.  The [???
of my brother Thomas Foster dec'd to be divided agreeably to the members of their living [??
the equal portion to my Sister Elizabeth Jones, I give to her Son Benjamin Jon[es
making each family as an heir of brothers ??? if living except Elizabeth, wh[ose
Son Benjamin I wish to inherit in her Stead.  To my Sister Mildred Goforth I give
my large trunks, to my brother Anthony Foster I have already given what I think [is
more than an equal portion of what I have now given to my other brothers H[??
or their heirs.
    All the remainder of my estate not heretofore mentioned, consisting of m[???
held and kitchen furniture Stock farming utensils ? and all other ch[???
poperty Shall be put to Sale by my Said Executor upon Such terms as he
think proper, the proceed, of which form a part of the aggregate amo
unt of which the afore mentioned legacies are to be paid.
    Lastly, It is my will and desire and I do hereby appoint my Nephew Edmund
Jones my Sole executor to this my last Will and testament. Hereby revoking also annul[ing
all further wills by me made.  By witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and
Seal this 18th Day of September 1831.
