Wilkes Co., NC Will Book #4 Page 253 November Term 1840 Mrs Sarah Fletchers Will In the name of God amen. I Sarah Fletcher of the County of Wilkes and State of North Carolina being of perfect mind and memory and calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all persons once to die, do make and ordain This my last will and testament. That is to say, first of all I recommend my soul into the hands of All mighty God that gave it, my body to be buried in a decent Christian Burial - and as touching with my worldly estate where with it has pleased God to bless me in this life I give and dispose of the same in the following manner: First I desire that all my just debts be paid out of my moneys or property. 2nd I give to the Children of my daughter Rebecca White my negro woman Lydia and her child called Sarah and such increase as she may have, to them the said Childred forever To be equally divided amongst them but my daughter Rebecca and her husband Landy R. White will have the use of said negroes during the life of his wife Rebecca and no longer, and not to be at his disposal in any manner whatever only so far as to receive the labor of them during the life of his wife as afore stated. 3rd. I give to my daughter Mary Martin my Negroes Lucy and her increase for her own use and benefit to her and her heirs forever and to be at her own disposal or anyway she may think proper. 4 I give to my daughter Pamelia Jones my negroe man James and to be at the disposal of my said daughter and her husband Russel H. Jones as they may chose. 5 I give to my Son Joseph H. Dogan and my Son W. Fletcher if he should be alive and my two daughters Nancy Stone and Elizabeth Gordon and and also to the heirs of my daughter Elizabeth Vannoy One Dollar each besides what I have hereto= fore given them in full of what they are to have of my estate. 6th The ballance of my property money & debts owing to me of every description to be equally divided between my daughters Re- becca White, Mary Martin, Pamelia Jones. 7th I do hereby constitute and appoint David Gray my Executor to this my last will and Testament in Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this 2nd day of May 1840.
