Wilkes Co., NC Will Book 5 Page 161 Mary Martin's Will In the Name of God Amen, I Mary Martin bring thorough abundant mercy and goodness of God though weak in body yet of a sound and perfect understanding and memory do constitute this my last will Testament. I desire it t be recorded as such. 1st I most humbly Commit my soul to God who give it beseaching his most Gracious acceptance of it & my body to the earth. My burial I leave to the discretion of my friends, and my executor hereafter named. who I doubt not will manage it with all requisite prudence as to my worldly estate 1st I all my just debts be paid. 2nd I desire that Executor pay out of my estate a note that my Brother S.H. Dogan holds on my son R.C. Martin. dec'd which is about four hundred dollars. 3rd I give to my daughter Matilda E Martin the following Negroes, Nancy, Bishop, Martha and Jim. and their increase to have and to hold for ever 4th I give to my two grand daughters Mary and Amelia Purkins my Negroe boy that now in the State of Alabama in the posession of Robert Purkin if they should die before they become of age the property to sent back to my estate & to equally divided between my two daughters Sarah A. Gray and Matilda Martin. 5th I desire that my Yellow boy Alfred be sold to pay my just debts. 6th I give to my son in law Robert Purkins my carriage 7th My wish is that my two daughters Sarah A. Gray and Matilda Martin have liberty to take out of my loose page 2 February Term 1857 property such articles as they may want and the balance of my property to be sold and the Balance of Money after my just debts are paid to be equally divided between my two daughters Sarah A. Gray and Matilda Martin. 8th I have given to Sarah A. Gray my daughter her part of the Negroes property in a deed of Gift heretofore 9th My wish is that my two daughters Sarah A.
