Most of the Sidebottom research was done by my mother years before I ever got interested. The death of my grandfather, William Stanley Sidebottom, and a visit to his boyhood home in Morgan County, Missouri, began my personal search. I heard the old "three brothers came over from England" story, but found no proof. I found a parish register from Virginia showing a Peter and Sarah Sidebottom family, but my John, his sister Nancy, and brother Joseph were not included.
So it is with John that I shall begin. There are other branches, but this is mine. It is a tale of American History from the American Revolution, through the Trail of Tears, the westward expansion, the Civil War, the Industrial Revolution, and two World Wars. It is a story of heroes and villains. But mostly, it is a story of people who lived and loved and worshipped God.
I have also attached reports on other branches of my family tree. If you should find a connection and have additions not living, or corrections with documented sources, please let me know.
