Notes for Richard Pearl Morris: Richard Morris Richard, a beloved husband and father, left this earth on Monday, May 29, 2006, to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. A memorial service will be held in his honor at 11 a.m. on June 3, 2006, at the First Church of the Nazarene, 11811 State Line Road, Kansas City, Mo. Consistent with his lifelong efforts to end domestic abuse, memorial contributions can be made to Hope House, PO Box 577, Lee's Summit, MO 64063, in lieu of flowers. Born in Wyandot, Ohio, he was the second of the 10 children of Earl and Eunice. He served our country during the Korean Conflict as a United States Marine. He was joined in marriage to Murel-Faye on a snowy Valentine's Day. Richard was an ordained minister of the Church of the Nazarene and pastored congregations in the states of Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Illinois and Missouri. He also served his local communities as a social worker for Children's Protective Services in the states of Connecticut and Illinois and in Adult Protective Services in the state of Missouri. Richard was preceded in death by his parents; his brother John and his sister Miriam. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Murel-Faye and seven brothers: James, Burton, Garth, Jesse, Charles, Robin and David, along with his four children: Laura, Lizbeth, Graham and Leigh. Richard was blessed by his seven grandchildren: Whitney, Taylor, Chloe, Rachel, Matthew, Daniel, Sarah and by his sons and daughter-in-law, John, Eric and Mary Anne. His departure leaves a great void in our lives and he will be sorely missed, but we take great comfort in the belief that we will see him again one day. Guest Book from Legacy.com September 4, 2006 Dear Janie, Lizbeth, Graham and Leigh - The news of your father's death was like a crushing blow! I wept with you and for you, sharing your loss. During my last conversation with your Dad, before Easter, I urged him to take care of himself - not knowing how ill he really was. Your dear Mother was always our focus. I shall miss our periodic phone calls - but thank you for letting me know. As I immediately breathed a prayer for all of you, I thought of Proverbs 3:5 - "Trust in the Lord and lean not on your own understanding." Some things in life we will never understand!! But -- the next verse is a promise to stand on: "In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path." Please know I love you all - I love your Mom and continue to pray for her. I heard a preacher say - "Don't fear the future. God is already there." I'd be happy if you will keep in touch as you are able. May the Lord bless you with His reassuring presence. Grace, mercy and peace - Doris Restrick Leigh Marvin (Spring Hill, KS)

I am so sorry for your loss. They say our loss is Heaven's gain and how true this is! I have always loved and admired Uncle Dick. I remember at the reunions he would tell me Bible stories. I loved to sit and listen to his soft soothing voice. I have such fond memories of our reunions but the best is yet to come!!!!!. You are all in my thoughts and prayers!
Love, Anita

Maria and I are most saddened at your loss. You may not be aware of this, but I used uncle Dick as a sounding board for spiritual questions many times over the years. His advice was always filled with godly thought and insight. For this I will be eternally grateful.
Unfortunately, our current travels make it impossible for us to attend the service this coming weekend. I take comfort in knowing that my mother and brother will be in attendance on behalf of [our entire family].
God bless, and you are all in our prayers.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- June 5, 2006 Dear Morris Family, I was saddened to learn of your dad's passing. I had just spoken with him by phone a month or so ago, after he had made contact with my sister and brother-in-law and my mom. We are all former parishoners of the Rumford, RI church of the Nazarene. Your dad and mom were very special to me and I so enjoyed speaking with him. He did not mention that he was ill, so news of his passing was a great shock to me. Thank you Graham for notifying my mom(Eunice Collins). We know that he is in a far better place, but we are all saddened by your loss. I pray the Lord's comfort to all of you. Priscilla Horton (Rumford, RI)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- May 31, 2006 We thought and prayed for your dad often through the last 15 years. As I have read the forwarded email's preceeding your fathers translation. It is gratifyig, to see his influence through out your family. Rejoice, for we will all be changed and we do not know how we will appear but this we do know; we shall be like Him. Your father and my former pastor heard "well done thou good and faithful servant" on Monday. I encourage you to live as though that is all that matters. We are sorry that we will not be able to attend Pastor Morris's funeral but our thoughts and prayers will be with you. Ken and Gina Holmes and Family Kenneth Holmes (Flint, MI)
