Stephen C. Elias Hamilton

Stephen C. Elias "Lice" Hamilton was born in 1861 to George Hamilton and Sarah Louisa Shelton Hamilton. (See

Sarah Hamilton Redmon article for lineage). He married the first time to Arkansas "Cannie" Massingale. Cannie was

the daughter of Robert "Bobby" Massingale (born 1828 and died 1901 in Jackson County NC) and Armifilia "Millie"

Wilson Massingale (born 1836 and died 1923 in Jackson County NC). Robert "Bobby" Massingale wad the son of

Dreddie Massingale.

Bobbie Massingale and Millie Wilson Massingale had eleven children: Dave Massingale, Debbie Massingale who married Mr. Nicholson and then Mr. Mulls, Dred Massingale, Robert Love Massingale, Nehemiah "Nick" Massingale who was born 1859 and died 1925 and married Callie Mathis (daughter of Levi Jefferson Mathis and Elizabeth Isabell Bryson) and had son Whitney Massingale who married Mary Rosetta Broom (daughter of John Houston Broom and Estella Wilson), John Marion Massingale who was born 1869 and died 1967 and married Martha Elenor Isabell Edrew Sillar Jane Hamilton (the sister of Stephen C. Elias Hamilton), Leana Massingale who was born 1884 and died 1980 and married Henry Crawford (the brother of Hamilton E. Crawford. See Sarah Hamilton Redmon article for Crawford lineage), Louise Jane Massingale who was born June 12, 1865 and married George Wesley Hamilton (the brother of Stephen C. Elias Hamilton), Wesley Massingale, Arkansas "Cannie" Massingale who married Stephen C. Elias Hamilton (see next paragraph), and Alice Massingale who married Hamilton E. Crawford and had children Minnie Crawford who never married and Carl Crawford who married Zina Alexander. Millie Wilson Massingale had a daughter (Susan F. Ridley, daughter of Boney Ridley) prior to her marriage to Bobby Massingale. Susan Ridley was born April 15, 1844 and married William Martin Lowe.

Stephen C. Elias Hamilton and Cannie Massingale had three children: Lilly Hamilton, Robert M. Hamilton, and Gus Hamilton. Lilly Hamilton married Jess Forrester and had children Paul Forrester, R.L. Forrester, Jesse Forrester, Frances Forrester, Clara Forrester, and Thelma Forrester. Robert M. Hamilton was born 1885 and died November 6, 1947 in Tellico Plains (Monroe County) TN and is buried at Unico Cemetery. He married Martha Annis Taylor who was born 1890 (daughter of James Thomas Taylor and Mary Ann Birch Taylor) and died March 24, 1961 in Tellico Plains TN and is buried at Unico Cemetery. (See next paragraph for additional info). Gus Hamilton married Ollie (unknown) and had children Clyde Hamilton, John Hamilton, and Nora Hamilton.

Robert M. Hamilton and Martha Taylor Hamilton had six children: Ned Crawford Hamilton born 1912 and married Martha Coleman (see later paragraphs), Ira Clifford Hamilton born 1913 and died July 12, 1914 in Tellico Plains TN, Fred Hamilton born 1915 and married first Iva Lee Debity and married second Hazel Nichols (see later paragraph), Cecil Hamilton who married first unknown (and had children Gay Hamilton and Edna Hamilton) and married second Margie unknown (and had children Patty Fern Hamilton and Lelland Hamilton), Irene Hamilton who married first unknown (and had child Kopie Elias Hamilton who married Buela Harris) and married second Ben Johnstone, and Florence Hamilton who married Melvin Lyons and had children Beatrice Lyons and Susie Lyons.

Ned Crawford Hamilton and Martha Coleman Hamilton had five children: Novio Calvert Hamilton (born 1935 and married Earnestine Lance and had children Pam Hamilton who married Daniel G. McJunkin, Martha Hamilton who married Jesse Eugene Miller, Noah Hamilton, and Paul Hamilton who married Kim King), Martha Hamilton (born 1941 and married Arthur Salley and had two children; Tina Marie Salley who married Paul Roy and had children Matthew Roy, Hamarah Roy, and Andrew Roy and Timothy Todd Salley who married Barbara Long and had children Tiffany Ann Salley, Jennifer Martha Salley and Timothy Travis Salley), Delade Hamilton (married Connie Roberts and had children Tresa Marie Hamilton who married Trell Linderman, Reba Devone Hamilton who married Eddie Coleman and Randy Cox, and Ned Martin Hamilton who married Angie Cline), Mary Ann Hamilton (born 1945 and married Taburn Ray Thomas, the son of Roy Thomas and Sarah Green Thomas, and had children Tammie Ann Thomas who married Kenneth Lee Stiles, Michael Ray Thomas who married Terri Anne Garren, Darren Lee Thomas who married Annesa Michelle Presley, and Brian Scott Thomas who married Melissa Jahe Graves), and Robert Hamilton (married Shirley Bowers and had child Robin Denise Hamilton who married Randy Cline). Ned Crawford Hamilton died May 20, 1983 in Madisonville, TN and is buried at Unico Cemetery in Tellico Plains.

Fred Hamilton (1915-1995) and Iva Lee Debity (1922-1977) had three children: Shirley Ann Hamilton (married Robert Donegan and had children Peggy Lee Donegan, Barbara Ann Donegan, Mary Louise Donegan who married George Shaw and Doyle Shell, Jackie Francis Donegan who married Dale Dockery and Eddie unknown, Bill Joe Donegan, Robert Donegan, and Casey Patrick Donegan), Charlotte Vernell Hamilton (born 1944 and married Sylvester Farmer and had children Nancy Jane Farmer who married Lamar Cantrell, Glenda Aliene Farmer who married Ray Cantrell, Billy Ray Farmer, and Dewayne Farmer)., Rebecca Louise Hamilton (born 1945 and married Richard Jones and had children Tammy Jean Jones who married Timothy Carl Yearwood, Loretta Elaine Jones who married Ronald Waren Satterfield, and Triva Louise Jones who married Denny Lee Gourley). Iva Lee Debity died April 8, 1977 and is buried in Towie Falls Cemetery in Coker Creek, Monroe County TN.

Fred Hamilton (1915-1995) and Hazel Nichols had seven children: Frances Ann Hamilton (born 1940 and married Lawrence Arnold Strickland and had children Lawrence Lee Strickland who married Lisa Sisco, William Harley Strickland who married Lisa unknown and Linda unknown, Melissia Strickland who married Johnnie Hammonds, and Frances Michelle Strickland who married Harlen Ferguson and Robert Lee Brannon), Lester Lee Hamilton (born 1949 and married first Mary Deana Bell and adopted children (of his sister) Johnny Lee [Fox] Hamilton who married Michelle Graves and had child Charles Emerson Lee Hamilton and Jennifer Lynn [Fox] Hamilton who married Brian Robinson and had child Scottie Lynn Hamilton. Lester married second Shirley Rebecca Yearwood who had children Keith Lee Ritchey, Brandon Keith Ritchey and Nicole Dawn Ritchey), Linda Sue Hamilton (born 1951 and married Harold Fox and had children Johnny Lee Fox, Jennifer Lynn Fox, Wesley Fox, and Charles Fox), Wilma Lou Hamilton (born 1953 and married Richard Swanson and had children Richard Lee Swanson JR who married Jackueline Marie Jarngine, Kathy Lynn Swanson who married Charles Hopson, and Fredrick Arthur Swanson who married Janet unknown), Charles Ray Hamilton (who was born 1956), Freda Kay Hamilton (who was born 1958 and married Terry Reese and had child Joey Reese), and Fred Leon Hamilton (born 1960 and died June 3, 1974 in Midtown TN and is buried at Lawnville Cemetery in Roane County). Fred Hamilton (1915-1995) died January 18, 1995 in Sevierville, TN and is buried at Lawnville Cemetery in Roane County TN.

Stephen C. Elias Hamilton married second to Elizabeth "Bethina" Mathis Cathey. Bethina had a son, Houston Cathey, by her first marriage. Lice and Bethina had four children: Early Filmore Hamilton (born 1897 and married Cordelia Dills and had children Kenneth Earl Hamilton, Elizabeth Hamilton, and Hoyt Haston Hamilton who was born 1924 and died Feb. 15, 1998 and married to Joanne Stone and had no children), Pearl Hamilton (born 1899 and married Bill Ramey and had children Steve Ramey, Ernest Ramey, and Bertha Ramey), Emet (Ernest) Hamilton (born 1903 and married Clara Holcomb and had children Joyce Hamilton who married a Mr. Manning, Louise Hamilton, Dorothy Hamilton, Harold Hamilton, and Evon Hamilton), and May (Mary) Hamilton (born 1907). Stephen C. Elias Hamilton died at age 79 and is buried at Hillcrest Cemetery in Pickens, SC.
