Rev. James Robert Vance "Bud" Hamilton

James Robert Vance "Bud" Hamilton was born May 19, 1871 in Jackson County, NC. He died August 29, 1947 and is buried in Liberty Cemetery in Cherokee County NC. He married Rebecca Arlesia Lowe, the daughter of William Martin Lowe and Susan F. Ridley. Rebecca Arlesia Lowe was born July 29, 1871 in Swain County NC and died August 24, 1952 in Cherokee County NC. She is buried at Liberty Cemetery. Bud Hamilton and Arlesia Lowe Hamilton had seven children; Annie Hamilton (born January 26, 1897 in Webster, NC and married Charlie Coleman), Arthur William Hamilton (born January 6, 1899 in Wolf Mountain, NC and married Birdie Marrow and Hannah Bingham), Thomas Baxter Hamilton (born April 9, 1903 and married Florence Ann Taylor), Eula Hamilton (born January 22, 1906 in TN and married Jim McBrayer), Bonnie Bell Hamilton (born August 29, 1908 in Clay County NC and married Bert Barnett), Ethel Hamilton (born June 22, 1911 in Clay County NC and married Leonard Wilkie) and Ella Vee Hamilton (born December 30, 1914 in Tellico Plains, Monroe County, TN and married Clyde Jory).

Annie Hamilton (born 1897) and Charlie Coleman (born June 6, 1894) had five children; Gladys Coleman (born February 10, 1917 in Haw Knob, Monroe County, TN and married Kenneth Hill and had three children; Gerald Hill born 1940 who married Nancy unknown and had child Cody Hill, Nyoka Hill born 1947 who married Jack unknown and had children Kim unknown and Ryan unknown, and Lodema Hill born 1950 who married Dennis unknown and had children Michael unknown and Michelle unknown), Hoyt Coleman (born July 31, 1919 in Coker Creek, Monroe County, TN and married Kate Mason and had children Paul Ccoleman, Johnny Coleman, Infant son Coleman, and Steve Coleman), Doris Coleman (born December 30, 1922 in Benum, KY and married Grady Welch and had children Edwin Welch and Leon Welch), Owen Coleman (born July 25 in Ducktown, Polk County, TN and married Vera from Ellijay, GA and had children Charles Coleman, Lucille Coleman, David Coleman, Lance Coleman, Wayne Coleman, Joann Coleman, and Susan Coleman), and Oakley Coleman (born October 19, 1927 in Tellico Plains, Monroe County, TN and married Betty unknown and had children Darrell Coleman, Dennis Coleman, Carolyn Coleman, and Debbie Coleman).

Arthur William Hamilton (born 1899) and Birdie Marrow had three children; Ray Hamilton who married Coleen and had child Rebecca Hamilton, Onabee Hamilton, and Faye Hamilton. Arthur William Hamilton (born 1899) and Hannah Bingham had four children; Georgia Mae Hamilton (born 1935 and married Richard Brewer and had children Teresa Brewer, Vincent Brewer, David Brewer, and Susan Brewer), Arthur Hamilton Jr (born 1937 and married Charlotte unknown and had children Larissa Hamilton, Ray Hamilton, Rebecca Hamilton, and Ramona Hamilton), James Kenneth Hamilton (born 1940 and married Lane Holcomb and had children Johnna Lyn Hamilton, Christina Hamilton, and James Kenneth Hamilton II), and Hannah Elizabeth Hamilton (born 1942 and married David Beaty and had children David Beaty Jr and Amy Beaty).

Thomas Baxter Hamilton (born 1903) and Florence Ann Taylor (born October 22, 1895) had three children; Pauline Hamilton (who married Matt Chumley), Beatrice Hamilton (born 1923 and died 1988 who married Don Hightower), and Ruby Jane Hamilton (born 1927 and died 1975).

Eula Hamilton (born 1906) and Jim McBrayer had four children; Boyd McBrayer (born 1923 in TN and married Minnie Speer and had child Benny McBrayer), Louise McBrayer (born 1925 in TN and married George Speer and had children Sharon Speer born VA, Mike Speer born VA, and Billy Speer born VA), Eileen McBrayer (born 1927in TN and marrieed Harold Grant and had children Donna Grant born VA, Dean Grant born CA, Bonnie Grant born MD, and Paul Grant), and Geraldine McBrayer (born 1930 and married Thomas Crowder and had children Jack Crowder born NC and David Crowder born VA).

Bonnie Bell Hamilton (born 1908) and Bert Barnett (born in Roan Mtn.,TN) had three children; Wayne Barnett (born Roan Mtn.,TN and married Dale unknown and had children Cheryl Barnett, Andrea Barnett, and Linda Barnett), Leslie Barnett (born 1930 and married Mary unknown and had children Leslie Barnett, Danny Barnett, and Benjamine Barnett), and Wynona Barnett (born 1933 and married Joe Holland and had children Susan Holland and Joel Holland).

Ethel Hamilton (born 1911) and Leonard Wilkie had two children; Mary Helen Wilkie (born 1932in Jackson County NC and married Berg Nolan and had children Lenord Nolan, Kathy Nolan, Danny Nolan, Tresa Nolan, Mary Alice Nolan, and Janet Nolan) and James Robert Wilkie (born 1934 in Gastonia NC and married Betty unknown and had children Kenneth Wilkie, Donna Wilkie, and Audrey Wilkie).

Ella Vee Hamilton (born 1914) and Clyde Jory had two children; Billie June Jory (born 1934 in Cherokee County NC and married George Howell who was born in Bakersville, NC and had children Lisa Ramona Howell born 1960 who married Robert Hutcheson and had children Andrew Hutcheson, Matthew Hutcheson, and Jesse Hutcheson and George Darin Howell born 1964) and Ramona Arlesia Jory (born 1936 in Cherokee County, NC and married Paul Ray Hawkins who was born in Cherokee County NC and had children Eddie Neal Hawkins born 1956 and Paul Keith Hawkins born 1959).

James Robert Vance "Bud" Hamilton was the son of George Hamilton and Sarah Louisa Shelton Hamilton. (See Sarah Hamilton Redmon article for lineage). Bud Hamilton had a brother, Thomas Filmore Hamilton, who we know very little about. We know that one of his wives maiden name was Lowe and that he had at least two daughters, Maggie Hamilton and Nora Hamilton. These daughters lived in Oregon. We also know that Tom Hamilton spent some time in Louisiana and that he returned to NC/TN in the 1940's. Thomas Filmore Hamilton was born in 1877 according to the 1880 Transylvania NC census and was born in 1873 according to a delayed birth certificate. He died in 1958 and is buried in the Massingale Cemetary in Epperson, Monroe County, TN.
