Harbin Jr. was killed by bushwhakers at their home located on a hill north of Granby Missouri. Their home was set afire and burning coals thrown on the face af a baby girl, badly burning her. Apparently Harbin recognized the bushwhakers and asked them not to burn the house and was killed so they would not be identified. Afterward the family moved to St. Joseph Mo., then to Longton Ks.
