1. WILLIAM² MARDOCK (MICHAEL MARDOCK¹ ?)¹ was born February 25, 1764 in Orange Co. NC. He married ELIZABETH BROOKS² 1784, daughter of JOEL BROOKS and MARY WRIGHT. She was born November 03, 1763.

Some of the following information obtained from the Quaker book for North Carolina and p. 406 of the Cane Creek monthly meeting and pp. 438 & 450 Spring Creek monthly meeting , now in Alamance N. C., and pp. 1125 & 1159 Lost Creek monthly meeting extracted by Ruthi Barth (RBarth@aol.com).
William & Elizabeth had eleven children, John was the oldest. Uncle Oscar had their family Bible. Elizabeth Brooks 1786 dis mou. ( disowned married out of Unity) apparently William was not a Quaker; 1789 William recrq. (reserved by request) apparently the family rejoined the Quaker Church. Following entries recorded the birth of seven children, transfers to subsequent monthly meetings & marrages. in 1801 William chosen overseer at Grassy Valley, 1805 John condemned for marriage crontrary to discipine. In 1806 William was recommended as elder, Ann con mcd (Nancy Ann Wright who married John contrary to discipline. Apparently some of my ancestors were not model Quakers!

Notes for ELIZABETH BROOKS:
My uncle Oscar Mardock listed Elizabeth's birth date as Nov. 3, 1763. Another family tree lists an Elizabeth Brooks daughter of a Joel Brooks born on Nov. 3, 1764. I believe there is a reasonable likelyhood that these are probably the same person therefore her ancestors in this tree are based on that assumption.
