Notes for Nathaniel Nations:
Possibly buried in Hall Cemetery.
He enlisted in Giles Co., TN. He was a corporal in the War of 1812. He fought against the Creeks with Andrew Jackson. He was a Lt. Col. in Blount Co. in 1818. Supposedly, he came down to Elyton, AL near Birmingham before proceeding to the Magnolia area of Columbia Co., AR. He also was a fur trader who came to Hempstead Co., Arkansas, from Walker Co., AL in 1835.
He was with either of the following in the War of 1812:
2 Regiment Mounted Gunmen (Williamson's) Tennessee Volunteers OR
1 Regiment Mounted (Perkin's) W. Tennessee Volunteers
Nathanial tried to get 640 acres of land in Texas and filed for it out of Shelby Co.,His application ultimately was said to be a forgery but he had already sold the paper while visiting a sister, around Gonzales, TX.It is thought that he and his wife are buried in an old cemetery there.
Most census information spells his name "Nathional."He was a very early settler of Hempstead County, now part of Columbia Co, AR.
1830 Census has Nathaniel in Walker County, AL.Others in Walker Co. include Abraham, Daniel, Joseph, another Joseph and John.By 1840, only Abraham is left in Walker Co.
1840 - Hempstead Co., AR - 2 males under 10, 2 females age 10-15, wife and self.
1850 - Hempstead Co., AR - Jemima, Jessie B. and Daniel J. still at home.
According to ME Meeks (a descendent) Nathaniel and Elizabeth were of British ancestry.
Abraham and Rebecca were members of the Canaan Baptist Church of Christ at Elyon.Other Browns (related to Elizabeth?) were members of the same church.[Brøderbund WFT Vol. 5, Ed. 1, Tree #1798, Date of Import: Sep 22, 1999]
