Notes for Patrick E Martin: Patrick Martin, then aged 19 years, began a Diary on Dec 29 1924 when he lived at Bishop Gate Derry City, (29 Bishop Street) seven years after his fathers death. In it he describes his activities with friends Micky Nicell and Neil McLaughlin. They went to dancing lessons, played billiards and snooker, went to the Theatre and the cinema. He attended a course in Skerry's (Business) College. He turns 20 and then 21. After an excursion to Dublin and Bray in August 1926 his sister May tells him he has a job in the Isle of Man. He joined his brother Bill in Douglas to work under Manager Mr Shaw in Woolworths on 5 August 1926. The Diary ends on 5 January 1927 with Patrick opening the store every morning at 8.30 AM.
