The Hicks that lived in Petrey, Al were very family oriented. The men worked hard and were faithful and loyal to religion and family. The women were creative with their hands.What was made with hands, came from the heart. Although most moved from Petrey to Montomery and various other place, they got a good start in Petrey. Hattye and Edward were my Grandparents. Obie,Forest, Charles and Lena were their children. There are alot of photos of various family members... some Hicks's, some Berrey's, some Clanton's, Etheridges and others.

I am dedicating this site to my father, James Obie Hicks, who was known to visit all the relatives on regular basis, trying to keep in touch with his family. 12-14-1912---05-08-1986 PaPa, Uncle"Tobe", Daddy, or Obie, no matter what name you called him, he was loved by all.Be sure and read"To Tell The Story" by one of his Granddaughters, listed in notes on him in report of descendants of Edward Hicks...have to click on next page buttons at the bottom of page to get to it.
He would travel to Tx, or just across town to visit his 1st cousins. They could always depend on him keeping them up to date. He would drop in on a niece or nephew, just to make sure they were ok. He dearly loved his visits to all his brothers and sister. He was good at visiting Mother's relatives also.
