George Washington Lafayette Swor was the sixth child of Elizabeth Fowler and William C. Swor. "Wash" was b. 11 July 1842 in Henry Co., TN.He served in Co. A, 5th Regiment under command of Col. Wm. E. Travis. "Wash" lost his left hand in the Battle of Perryville, KY, on 8 Oct. 1862. He m. Mary Isabel Lemonds in 1865. They had six children. After his wife's death he m. Mollie Rogers. Kenneth Theodore Swor was the only child of Ewing Farish and Velda (Spain) Swor. He 1st married Betty Vaughan and then his 2nd wife was Katherine Thomas. Ken had three children from his union with his 1st wife, Betty and one son from his 2nd wife, Kathy. Ken Swor, passed away Nov 10, 2004 in Houston, TX at the Texas Heart Institute after a 2 1/2 year struggle.Ken's grandfather was Thomas Bailey Swor and grandmother Lilllie May Moore.Ken worked as a teacher for a short time, and later worked in the movie industry in Los Angeles, CA, however; Ken never used his full name, not even in movie credits; he was that kind of man.In addition, Ken would say being a parent was the most important single job in any life. Born in Arkansas, Swor moved to California as an infant and graduated from Fresno State U. He spent several years teaching school and coaching basketball before entering the Directors Guild of America training program, where his first credit was as assistant director on "Two Lane Blacktop." He was A.D.A.D. on "The Great Santini," "My Side of the Mountain" and "Queen of the Stardust Ballroom," for which he shared a DGADGA Award.His credits as a production manager and producer include "Diner" and "The Formula" as well as television series "The Twilight Zone," "Police Story" and "Streets of San Francisco." - Pleasant G. Jesse Franklin Swor, hosted many Swor Families reunions, was one of the founding members of the National Association of Swor Families and served as President of NASF. Jesse Franklin Swor was also author of a book called "Land of the Winds" in this book he states it is part fictional. Jesse wrote a dessertation on the history of the Garvin Memorial Cemetery in Dallas, TX. As a result, the Texas Historical Society marked the Garvin Memorial Cemetery with a marker as a historical site. Jesse Franklin Swor was a descendant of Robert and Sarah (Rushing) Swor. The Garvin Memorial Cemetery located on Northwest Highway between Midway and Lemmon, in Dallas, Texas is the burial ground of several prominent Dallas pioneer residents. The original benefactor, James G. Garvin, donated the land to the public in April, 1897 for a "respectful burying ground". In 1868, when the cemetery was founded by a Methodistminister, the Rev. W.H.
