I became interested in family research when my late mother gave me information about my Great Grandmother Her Surname was Fitzgerald and she had a brother his name was Patrick Fitzgerald. my Great Grandmother parent's came from the west of Ireland. my Great Grandmother was married I believe in Scotland in 1897 to Canavan and their first born was a little girl who was born in Scotland on the 02-08-1899.Margaret's parent's,moved back to Ballina co. Mayo. My late mother also told me that my Great Grandmother was related to John F Kennedy.....
Mary Devers Nee Canavan, Margaret's sister.was Married to James Devers in 1919...Mary had three Daugther's.... Margaret Canavan Immigrated to Pennsylvania in 1923.Margaret worked for a prist as a headhouse keeper, Margaret never married.she Died in Dectember 1987.Ann canavan Immigrated to west Lothian in Scotland when she was 20 yrs old she married and had a son named Henry.Ann married a second time to Nullity she had another son and his name is Nick Nullity. Ann died in 1970...Micheal Canavan was Married in the west of ireland in 1932 he also had three Daugther's..Martin J Canavan born 1891..John Canavan born in 1892...their was 11 children born to Mary and Martin Mark Canavan five of those children lived and the rest died.Mary Canavan My great grandmother was nicknamed Maria Canavan.Mary Devers was my grandmother and her brothers and sister's were my grand uncles and Aunts.My Grandfather James Devers was in the Connuaght Rangers in Inida.when they heard about the trouble back home in Ireland and the irishmen refuse to fight.this was called the munity of the cannaught Rangers 1920-1922.my Grandfather's name is in the book called. The Devil to pay by Anthony Babington. The Mutiny of the Connaught Rangers, India, July 1920. I would like to add that I am very proud of my Grandfather Private James Devers, May he and all his comrads R.I.P.....
