* Winborne - Coleman: Virginia and North Carolina Ancestors*

Updated September 5, 2000

My research focuses on the WINBORNE (Winborn, Winbourne, Winburn, Wenbon) families whose origins are first documented in colonial Virginia and North Carolina. Last known North Carolina townships of residence are Como and Riddicksville in Hertford County, prior to 5 sons and 1 daughter moving to Norfolk, VA between 1884 - 1900.

My female ancestry includes Lewis COLEMAN and Anne WALKER (ca. 1853-1900). Other surnames include BLANKS(Claiborne), BANKS, FERGUSON, and DREWRY. These families have been found around Southampton, Sussex, and Greensville Counties in Virginia.

Of special interest is the earliest known female ancestor, whom everyone in Adams Grove, Southampton County, called "Aunt Branchy." Branchy Walker Blanks married twice. Her family surname is unknown but is thought to be Jordan.

Any information that provides references to personally remembered histories of their lifetimes, counties, families and genealogies would be greatly appreciated.

If anyone knows the date or burial place of Branchy, please contact me.
