The Mathews are from Ireland. Sometime around 1820 or so, Cecil Mathews decided to add another "T" to his name, thereby changing the spelling from one "T" to 2 "T"'s.
We are trying to find information on Alex Mathews, probably born in Ireland. His Son, William was born in County Down??, Ireland in 1825. William married Betsey Walker, B 1835 in England, then migrated to Ontario,Canada where one son was born. They then moved to Imlay City, Michigan area, where James Ely Mathews was born in 1867. He married Nancy Henrietta Powell B 1867 in Michigan. Their son, Cecil J. Mathews/Matthews b 1899, Imlay City, Michigan married Ruth Christine Glover.

(WFT fm.# 6261) Hugh Glover, B 1847 in Scotland, D 1927, Michigan. Hugh married Margaret B. Wallace, B 1848 in Scotland. Their Son Robert Truman Glover B 10/22/1874 in North Branch Twp, Michgan married Fannie Elmira Coffron, B 4/17/1873 place unknown and died 12/26/1917 in Michigan.

John Richmond b. 1796, VA, married Anny Robins/Robbins b. 1902, Oldham County, KY(I think this was a 1st. marriage last name. I believe she was a Gatewood, as they named my Grandfather "Silas Gatewood Richmond". On my grandfather, Silas death Certificate it shows his mother as being "Mrs. Robbins". John and Anny (Ally or Alice) were married June 4, 1825 in KY. Their Son; Silas Gatewood Richmond, B 11/18/1831 in KY, married (WFT fm # 4976) Dorothy Richmond, (adopted INDIAN daughter of Valentine Richmond) b 1830 in Oldham County, KY.Their Son, James E. Richmond, b Apr. 11/1874 in Tremble County, KY married Lucy Victoria Cates, B 10/17/1884, in Arkansas.
I would like to find RICHARD M. JOLLY FATHER OF(WFT fm. # 3838) Rachel D. Melinder Jolly,b 2/27/1887, d 11/29/1944. Rachel married Frank Meyers b 6/20/1853, d 12/29/1911, born and died in Marquand, MO.
