I am researching the MATHIAS family from Perquimans County, North Carolina. John Mathias married Elizabeth Pratt but the date and place are unknown. He died about 1746/7 in Perquimans County, N.C. I suspect his father to be George Mathews/Mathes, also of Perquimans County, N.C., who died about 1700.
John's Grandson, Josiah Mathis, moved to Christian County, Kentucky about 1810. Josiah's Great Grandson, George Mathis, moved to Stewart County, Tennessee about 1878.

I have made connections in Kentucky, Illinois and Texas. I am also interest in the following surnames: Pratt, Sutton, Harmon, Brown and Hester.
