The Jacob Nicola family arrived from Preston Co, Virginia via Pennsylvania and Ohio in 1854. They lived and farmed in the Washington, Pilotburg and Iowa City areas. The Malcolms arrived in Iowa before 1865 and lived in the western side of the state in Pocahontas county. Leon A. Malcolm was mayor of Bradgate, Iowa for more than 20 years. I am also helping my husband with his search on the Mathis family. William Cornelius Mathis came from Denver, Carroll Co., Arkansas before 1911 with his father John McConnel Mathis (born 1857). Searches of census in Arkansas have been unsuccessful so far. John was married to Triphena Eugenia Gregory. I would love to share what I have and accept any help from others. The Foutz family has been especially helpful with Sarah Jane Preas Candler line. The internet and web postings should help us in finding our roots. |
