DEATH OF JOSEPH J. MATSON

Joseph Jordan Matson, one of the oldest and most highly respected citizens of Union Township, passed away April 9,1912, after one month's illness, to his mortal resting place, to await the great resurrection. He had attained an age of 92 years. He was equipped early in life to run the Christian race, and at death well prepared to say "I have fouget the good fight, I have finished ;my course, I have kept the faith,"__ and hope for the crown.

The remains of the deceased were laid to rest in the Corsica cemetery Friday morning. The funeral services, which were impressive, were conducted at the Presbyterian church by Rev. Welker and Rev. Kearns. The attendance was very large.

The late MR. Matson was born in Indiana County, coming to Jefferson County at an early age, where he spent the remainder of his life. He was twice married. His first wife being Nancy Ella Daniels. To this union four children were born, two of whom survive, Mrs. John McCullough of Corsica and Mrs. Frank Undercoffer of Meadville.

In 1892 he was united in marriage to Pininah Kaylor Steele, who survives him. At the time of death MR. Matson had resided for forty one years in the old Kaylor homestead, the birth place and childhood home of his bereft widow.

MR. Matson possessed that kindly and pleasing disposition which endeared him to all those whom he came in contact with. Peace be to his ashes, may he sleep quietly in the grave where his friends have tenderly laid him.
