Ruff Family

Welcome Julianna Crysta Ruff, new descendant of Charles Augustus Ruff. Your great-great-great grandfather Charles (aka Carl August) came to America in 1848 from Stuttgart, Germany. He was born in Ludwigsburg, Germany, on October 10, 1816, the son of Johann Michael Ruff and Christiana Kuhnle. Before leaving Germany, he married Sophie Riedle in 1847. They lived in New York City, Waterbury(Conn) and Boston before settling in Providence, Rhode Island about 1860.

Charles was a cutler (messerschmid), surgical and dental instrument maker, business owner, and like your father, an inventor.
