| I am researching the Bounds, Spence, West, Childers, Laird, Aven and Mattingly branches of our family tree. The Bounds came from England to Virginia in the 1600s, then to Maryland to North Carolina and to Mississippi. The Childers I have from Nacogdoches, Texas, Arkansas and Oklahoma. Joseph Spence came to Texas in 1859 from Tennessee where his family had moved to in the early 1800s. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1826. The Wests came to Texas from South Carolina in 1648 where Dr.Jacob West was born in 1826. He served as a physician in the Confederate Army during the Civil War. The Lairds are from New Mexico and Texas, the Avens from Mississippi and the Mattinglys from Indiana. I would like to hear from anyone who is doing research on these lines. I have lots of info on the Bounds family. I have not been at this very long but feel I have gained much and am anxious to find more of my family. Thanks. |
