Neither signed the register and the church wardens were the witnesses. From what I have seen so far it was common practice in this parish for the Churchwardens to sign as witnesses. The vicar obviously never thought that these would be of interest in years to comeas he was a bit spares with his information. You were lucky he even bothered to write their ages. Notes for JOHN BIRCHALL: John Birchall Sr (teetotaler). was a switcher for the "London and North Western Railroad" An agent came over from CPR in Canada with a magic lantern show to try and get immigrants to come to Western Canada. When John Sr. saw the slides of Lake Louise he asked the agent about it. He was told if he came to Canada he would see it every day out his window. He died never seeing Lake Louise.
