| Nils and Margaret Mattson (or Matson) came to the Delaware River Valley from Sweden in 1654, and had sons Anthony and John. Anthony's descendants were named Neilson or Nelson and spread from New Jersey; John's were named Matson or Mattson and spread from Chester Co, PA. Morris Mattson, born 1715 in Chester Co, grandson of John, had a large family, some of whom spread to Ohio and westward. Descendants live in PA, CA, IL, MI, NY, Tx, and elsewhere.Possibly connected in Sweden, another Matson family spread westward from 1630 Boston. |
