| The Mattson family lines settled in the Delaware River colonies (John Mattson/Matson son or grandson of Nils from Sweden, or perhaps John Matt's son, son of Matthew Roberts, from Wales). Families are Hickman, Way, Baily, Taylor, Miler, Reynolds, Kingsman, Dutton, Ring, Powell, Southery, Walters, Pyle, Goodwin, Cloud, Gause, Beverly, Hannum, and others, mostly from the UK. My father Bernard Gause Mattson Jr. married Natalie Nelson Humphrey, from Missouri. Her family also came from Great Britain, to the Massachusetts/New Hampshire/Maine colonies (Humphrey, Munro, Southworth, Padelford, Flint, Mitton, Weeks, Haines, Hilton, Dudley, Brackett, Johnson, Lewis, Hubbard, Nye, Tupper, Wood, Masterson, Hinckley, Richard, Lothrop, Rea, Haskell, Hardy, Woodbury. Other less-known lines include Walker, Quinn, Peaslie, Nelson, Lemon, McKown, Rowland, Barnett, Copeland, Pipes, Harriman, Colbath, Frazyer, Brenneman, Bucher).They emigrated in the 1600's and 1700's, mostly. |
