HI. Welcome to the Home page of Phil & Dana Matthews. We have been researching our family trees for a number of years and have had much success in going back in history. Phil is of direct English descent and is interested in researching his lines back in the counties of Somerset, Dorset, Northamptonshire, Staffordshire, Wiltshire, Kent, Sussex and Essex. Dana descends from emigrants in nearly every generation that has come to America since the 1600's. Three of Dana's ancestors came over on the Mayflower. Phil's surnames of interest are MATTHEWS, DEAN, PURSEY, SHORE, HIPPISLEY, SANTER, WEBB, DOMINEY, BOYLAND, SWEETAPPLE, and WHITTON among a number of others. Phil has taken his tree back to the 1600's in Northamptonshire, 1500's in Somerset, 1700's in Dorset, 1800's in Staffordsire and Essex, 1700's in Sussex, 1600's in Kent and to the 1500's in Willtshire. Dana has taken her family back to Germany in the 1800's, Norway in the 1800's, Ireland in the 1800's, to the early colonial days in the 1600;'s and 1700's and to England back to medieval times. There are possible ties to royalty on Dana's side. Dana is interested in the names of MEIER, GRAVES, DUNGANNON, POTEET, LUCAS, CLARY, KELSON, MIHILLS, PARTRIDGE, PUTNAM, BANKS, BACON, TRASK, ELDRIDGE, DURKEE, WILSON, HILTON, PUTNAM, WEARE, TURBAT, MUCHMORE, PRATT, PURRINGTON, POOKE, PARSONS, amoing a number of others. One of Dana's lines come from Nova Scotia. Several of her ancestors left New England in the mid-1700's and went to Nova Scotia. One relative William Eldridge Graves left Nova Scotia in the late 1800's to go to Massachusetts and then to California at the turn of the century making our children the sixth generation that have lived in California.
