Family of Thos. Jefferson Mathewson & Mary (Yoder) Mathewson

Lev Jefferson Mathewson (my father) was born in 1882 to Thomas Jefferson Mathewson and Mary (Yoder) Mathewson at Elnora, Indiana. Jessie Virtue Bobbitt was born at Brazil, Indiana in 1885 to Joseph Carter Bobbitt and Dora Jane Reynolds.
Thomas Jefferson M. was b. 1845 in Indiana, son of Wilson and Mary (Goldman) Mathewson. Mary Goldman was dtr of John Fr(ederick?) and Catherine Goldman.

Wilson Mathewson was b. 1821 in Tennessee, to Alexander and Nancy Mathewson. He was a farmer and a cooper in Indiana; d. May 1867 in Daviess (sic), County, Indiana and buried in Bogard Twp, probably in Methodist cemetery.

Alexander Mathewson, b. 1793(?) in S. (maybe N?) Carolina, was a farmer. Married Nancy (unk last name), possibly a full Cherokee. Nancy died October 18, 1849, in Daviess County, Indiana.


The earliest Mathewson found to date in our line is Alexander, born 1793 in South Carolina. At some point, the family showed up in Tennessee, Kentucky and later in Indiana.
