| I am researching the MATHIS family from Lewis and Oneida Counties in Upstate New York. John Mathis was born March 2, 1863 in Innsbruck, Austria. He married Emma Amelia Meyer(Meier) on June 2, 1897 at St. Peter and Paul's Church, Lewis County, Fish Creek, NY. They had eleven children: Anna, Otto Louis, Lorena, Frank Anthony, Edward Albert, Agnes, Magdalena, Elizabeth, Cecelia, Lawrence S., and Paul C.. I am looking for more on the Mathis/Mattis/Matthis family roots in Austria. John's father, Frank Anthony Mathis was born in 1818 in Tyrol, Austria and married Mary Ann (Anna) Ammon (date/place unknown). They had nine children born from 1845 to 1865: Casper, Joseph, George, Lawrence, Charles, Josephine Sophia, Paul, John, and Rose. In addition, I am researching the Herman Bauer family, who emigrated from Herda, Duchy of Saxe-Weimar, (now Germany)in the mid 1850s, to Lewis County, NY. Any information would be appreciated. I am also willing to share the information I have. |
