| I have been researching my family genealogy for about eight years now. All of these folks below lived & died in western New York State, Lockport being the principle city of my family. I am researching the following lines: 1. COLLETTI - My paternal grandmother's father (Joseph Carl Colletti) arrived in US via NYC, NY on 7/3/1893 from Caltanesetta (sp could be off - 1901 Na. pp handwriting), Sicily. Have no info re: Colletti's of Sicily, now or then. B. 1881,D. 8/1/1935. 2. TERMINI - Joseph Carl Colletti's wife - Maria Estelle (Estella?), b. 3/19/1885, d. 5/29/1960. Probably Sicilian, definitely Italian. Arrive in USA 1897 - as best I can figure, Na. betw. 1910-1920. The "Termini" can from a "hack" genealogical service a cousain was working with ~15 years ago, never substantiated. Have no marriage date for Joseph & "Stella," first child b. in 1901-02. All I know. 3. ARTHUR J. COVELL - My mom's paternal grandfather. B. 2/1881 in Lockport, NY, married first to Jennie E. White in Lockport 2/25/1903. Widowed, he wed Mary A. Criswell 10/18/1911 in Lockport. Need DOD - probably in AZ 1950's. 4. HENRY COVELL - Arthur's father. B. England, 1843-44. Known also as Harry. Husband of Susan Sutton until her death 3/25/1903. M. Anna Van Wicklin in Lockport 4/6/1904. Listed in Lockport City Directory in 1905. I need DOD, DOM (1st). 5. SUSAN SUTTON - Wife of #4, b. England, 1843-44. D. Town of Lockport, 3/25/1903. Need DOB, DOM, ancestry in England. 6. HENRY COVELL - Father of #4, b. England, 1816. D. 1/7/1889 Lockport? Na. 10/25/1859, so must have arrived in early 1850's. Have much documetation. 1850 census places he & son, James A. (a CW veteran)in Victor (Ontario County), NY. Known as Harry. First of my Covell ancestores in USA. Need DOB, DOM, ancestry in Eng. 7. MARY A. COVELL - Wife of #7. Have no maiden name! B. England, 1818, d. 1909, probably Lockport. City directories give some info. Need DOB, DOM, MAIDEN NAME, ancestry in England. 8. ALHIRA G. WHITE - Have some documentation. B. Renselear Cty, NY 8/3/1804. M. Lydia Scofield of Albany 4/13/1828. Arrived in Lockport in 1822. Active in city govt. D. 1/13/1890. 9. LYDIA SCOFIELD - Wife of #8. B. Albany, NY. All I know. 10. THOMAS J. WHITE - Son of #8 & #9. Blacksmith, b. Lockport, 7/19/1845. D. Lockport, 2/27/1920. Need DOM to Mary Welch. I'd also love to know what any of these middle initials are! 11. MARY WELCH - Wife of #10. Lived in family homestead at 70 Minard St, Lockport into 1930's. B. Niagara Cty, NY. Help! 12. WILLIAM F. FOSTER - A tough one. Piles of FOSTERS in NY in 1800's. Died between 1892 (birth of last child) - 1900 (wife listed a widow in census. Several William F. Foster's appear in 1850 census in western NY, which would make him considerably older than wife(#13). Have 1890's photo of children, inscribed on back: "Children of William F. Foster." The "F." is questionable. Combines with FOSTER to make him a challenge! Help!!! 13. ELIZABETH J. GUNBY or BUMBY - How about this one! Newspaper article comm. 90th birthday uses one, obit uses other. HELP! My great-great grandmother - we have a 5 gen. photo w/her holding me. B. 9/1/1857 in either PORT PERRY or FORT PERRY, Ontario. Father b. England, Mother b. Canada. Came to USA from Canada 1866 - na. 1870 or 1872. Lived in Lockport. D. 6/24/1957 Buffalo, NY. 14. HARRY HOWELL - My maternal grandmother's maternal grandfather. B. 4/1854 NYS, D. Buffalo 1930's. Can't come up with a clue. Perhaps died at a Buffalo sanitarium in 1930's. 1900 census lists him in Pendleton Town, Niagara Cty. 15. MARY STEEN - Wife of #14. B. 1/1857 Germany. Probably died in same place ~ same time as Harry. I know nothing more. 16. ELLA M. HOWELL - First wife of my mom's maternal grandfather, Charles Matthew Foster, son of #12 & #13. B. 6/1888, daughter of #14 & #15. Died bef. 1940 probably Lockport, but I have nothing. |
