I am researching the MATTHEWS family with roots in the English Midlands, Walsall, Stafford, Evesham and Worcester.
The earliest ancestor recorded is Thomas Matthew, born about 1587. The North American branch of the family began with the emigration of Mary MATTHEWS, born 12 April 1635 in Evesham, Worcestershire, England. She married Henry VINCENT, born about 1635, on 15 December 1657 at SANDWICH, Barnstable County, Mass., USA.
Henry Vincent was the nephew of Pilgrim Father, Isaac Allerton.
Later emigration was made by Walter Edwin MATTHEWS from WALSALL, Staffs., England to Walnut Grove, Nebraska in 1893.
