My known maternal family surnames are: DYER,CARNELL,BRIGANCE, ROBBINS,HATCHER,CRAFT,LANDRUM, THAXTON
These families were all settled in the Humphreys County, TN area from the late 1790s to about 1902 when Hubbard Joel Dyer (b. 4 May 1855, TN (s/o John King Dyer and Mildred Carnell) moved his family to pre-statehood Indian Territory and settled in the Ward's Vally area of Pittsburg Co.(so. of the present-day Pittsburg.) My grandfather, James Covington Dyer, was about 18 years old when they made this move.
I have my DYER and related families back to VA, PA, NC abt. 1750 and be glad to share that information with anyone that's also researching thes lines.
My brick-wall is Hubbard Joel Dyer's wife and the mother of his children, Mary E. ROBBINS, born 3 DEC 1857 in TN, possibly also Humphreys Co. She was the daugther of Michael ROBBINS (b.1820-TN) and Sarah Jane HATCHER (b. 1843,dau of John L. and Louisa CRAFT HATCHER)
For some reason, Mary E.did not come with Hubbard Joel Dyer and to her children to IT/OK. She was still living at the time, because my Mom has an shown me an old photo of her "Papa and Mama" (Cov DYER & Vernia C. PARK) taken on their day(Nov 24, 1924) and a short, small framed older woman whom she said was her grandma MARY E ROBBINS DYER, is standing with the newly-weds in front of the old farm house.
Her father, Michael Robbins, (my gr-gr-gandfather) was born 23 DEC 1820 in TN and died 9 MARCH 1885. He is "reportley" buried in Dr. Grey Cemetery in Memphis, Shelby Co, TN, but I have not been able to locate his grave or even a cemetery in the Memphis are by that name. I don't know his parents names or where they lived. Both Michael Robbins and his daughter, Mary E. Robbins Dyer seems to have just vanished into thin air.
If anyone has any proven information on these families or answers to my questions of "where are they buried", and "why she did not relocate with her family", please email me at okiepatt@yahoo.com
