I'm researching the Mawhorter/McWhorter/MeWhorter/McWherter's from Noble County, Indiana, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. James Mawhorter/McWhorter is in the 1840 census in Salt Rock township, Marion County, Ohio. Before that I don't know where he was except he was born in Washington County, Pennsylvania and married Margaret in Muskigum County, Ohio on March 26, 1828,. James and Margaret had 10 children in Ohio. Kilborn born in Ohio 1829, James M. born in Marion County, Ohio in 1833, William born in Ohio abt. 1835, John born in Ohio in 1837, Robert born in Marion County, Ohio in 1840, Addeline born in Ohio in 1844, Caroline born in Ohio in 1844, Aaron born in Ohio in 1846, Margaret E. born in Ohio abt. 1848, and Hannah born in Ohio abt. 1851. They are in the 1850 census in Antrim township, Wyandot County, Ohio, formaly Salt Rock township, Marion County, Ohio after Wyandot County was formed into a county. In 1853 this family moved to Noble County, Indiana.
In addition I'm also researching my maternal side of my family tree. On my maternal side I'm researching Floyd County, Kentucky, and Pike County, Kentucky. These are the following surnames in Kentucky I'm researching, Adkins, Osborne, Hall, Hatfield, Matheny, Tackitt, and Newman. One in paticular is Henderson Lee Adkins born January 18, 1886 in Kentucky. He married Meda A. Matheny born in Ohio abt. 1891. They were living in Dickinson County, Michigan in 1910 and by 1920 they were living in Pike County, Kentucky. Henderson's mother was Mollie Adkins. His father may have been an unknown Howard. According to family members the surename was changed from Howard to Adkins somewhere down the line.
