Patty Jean Maxwell, 71, of Newcomerstown, O., formerly of Dennison, O., died Friday, June 23, 2006, at 5:52 a.m. in Mercy Medical Center at Canton, O., following a lengthy illness.
Born July 1, 1934, in Midvale, O., she was a daughter of the late William Franklin and Stella Viola (Barnes) Benedum.
A lifelong resident of our area, Patty Jean attended Midvale High School and was a Presbyterian by faith. She devoted her life to her family as a loving wife, mother and homemaker who enjoyed doing crafts, baking and crocheting. She loved spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren, who were a great joy to her. She was also a member of the Hey Jack Sportsman’s Club Auxiliary.
On Nov. 3, 1950, she wed Adrian “Sonny” Maxwell, who preceded her in death on July 12, 1985. Her surviving family includes a daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Jean Ann) Clark of Newcomerstown with whom she had been residing; three sons, John Adrian Maxwell and wife BabRhetta of Suffolk, Va., Oscar Lewis Maxwell of Dennison and Bert J. Maxwell and wife Deborah of Dennison; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Robert (Joan) Belknap of Roswell, O.; a brother, Jerry Benedum of Poquoson, Va.; a brother-in-law, Eugene Max-well and wife Janie of Dennison; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Russell (Jackie) Edwards of New Philadelphia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services for Patty Jean, officiated by Rev. Carolyn Behrendt, will be held on Monday, June 26, 2006, at 10 a.m. in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery at Uhrichsville. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 25, 2006.
Patty Jean’s family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the charity of one’s choice.
