2. PETER² GAVER (JOHANNIS PETER¹ GEBER) was born October 8, 1759, and died November 3, 1802. He married MARY CATHERINE ARNOLD. She died 1807.

Notes for PETER GAVER:
Peter Gaver was a Deacon of the Broad Run Church in Burkittsville, MD. He was accused of being a Tory during the American Revolution- as a matter of fact, the Gavers at this point were Dukards, similar to Mennonites and simply refused to fight. Most Gaver's refused to participate in the war.
By 1785 he Americanized his name to Gaver. In the years after the American Revolutionary War, he was able to get back some of the land that had been lost.

Notes for VALENTINE GAVER:
In 1783 Valentine signed as witness at his brother John's wedding to Margaret Black. By 1795, it seems he had changed his name to Gettert and appointed Catherine Gettert as an administrator of his will. Was Catherine his daughter?

4. ELIZABETH² GAVER (JOHANNIS PETER¹ GEBER) was born Abt. 1738, and died 1770 in Frederick, MD. She married PETER MILLERI (JOHNANNES) July 10, 1760 in Frederick County, MD, son of JOHANN MULLER and ANNA FISCHER. He was born September 11, 1739 in Altenkirk, Helmeroth, Germany, and died January 13, 1829 in Frederick, MD.

Notes for PETER MILLERI (JOHNANNES):
Tradition has it that Peter Miller's father was part of Frederick the Great's bodyguard. In the mid 1700's, he emigrated to America with his son, Peter. They were members of the Duckard Church. Could his father have converted to the pacifist movement, which would have meant that he had to resign his position as bodyguard?
He also was married several times.

5. ASENATH² GAVER (JOHANNIS PETER¹ GEBER) was born July 23, 1747, and died July 16, 1834. She married JOHN SLIFER II Abt. 1766 in Frederick County, MD. He was born 1743 in The Rhine Valley in Germany, and died 1822.

Notes for ASENATH GAVER:
Asenath muct have been a remarkable woman. In his will, John left her a number of items but most importantly he left her money to be used at her discretion.

Notes for JOHN SLIFER II:
John Slifer II lived in Bucks County PA and had been married before Asenath Gaver. With Peter Miller and Jacob Gaver, he left PA for MD and settled near Crampton's Gap on South Mountain in the Middleton Valley. He became one of the first Deacons of the Broad Run German Baptist Church (located on the farm of Daniel B. Arnold) in Frederick Cty MD.
He may have broken with the Dunkard community during the American Revolutionary War because there is a reference to a John Shiffer fighting in the war.
