Welcome to the Maxwell Family Home Page.
My family came to America in 1805. James Maxwell, his wife, Jane (Bulen) Maxwell and their first son John, sailed into Port New York direct from Ireland. They settled in Germantown, Columbia county, New York and had two more children, Nancy in 1808, and James in 1810. In 1813 the family moved on to Lebanon, Warren county, Ohio and had two more children, William in 1813 and Robert in 1815. In 1817 the family moved to Dearborn county, Indiana where their last two children were born, Elinor in 1818 and Harvey in 1821.

The Maxwells stayed in Dearborn county, Indiana until the late 1830s. Some of the Maxwell clan continued on into Morgan county, Indiana where some descendants live today. James and Jane Maxwells descendants are spread out around the country, but large portions of the family live in Indiana, Iowa, Nebraska, Washington, Oregon and California.
