| I have been researching my ancestry for the past three years. I wanted to see if I could trace my father's family back to Scotland. I have completed the task to, I believe, the first Maxwell in our family to immigrate to the United States, Thomas Maxwell. However, I have not been able to make the connection back to Scotland. My father, Ernest Burdette Maxwell, was the sixth of seven sons and two sisters who lived in and around Lafayette, Indiana. His father's name was Ernest Maxwell and his mother was Nellie Mae Cox. All of my father's brothers and sisters are now gone except for Aunt Elizabeth Maxwell Gladden. My mother, Helen Frances Williams, was the youngest daughter of Benjamin James Williams and Frances Katherine Brickler. Again, my mother's family, like my father's family, lived in and around Lafayette Indiana. |
