Bonaventures of Pointe Coupee Parish, LouisianaUpdated February 7, 2002 | |
| This is the beginning of a compilation of descendants of Andre Bonaventure, who first shows up in Pointe Coupee Parish, Louisiana, in about 1775. He is listed in the Pointe Coupee Militia of 1777 under General Galvez. This list, transcribed by the DAR, can be found on a plaque at the Pointe Coupee Parish Court House. I believe that Andre's name was mistranscribed by the DAR as Endre Bonavauliere. The Diocese of Baton Rouge Catholic Church Records, Volume 2, page 103, has the following information for Andre Bonaventure: age 40 years, dit Gouyate, bur. 15, Sept. 1787 (PCP-5, 5). |
