| We have limited knowledge of the Maynard history. There has been two different spellings Maynard and Maynor. It has been known that members of some family units have spelled their names differently. George Maynard Sr. was a cook in Clio, South Carolina. It is said that his father was Bill Maynard. George had a brother named Hayes and a sister named Mary Shepherd. George married Carrie Bell, who lived in Maxton, North Carolina. Carrie Bell's mother was named Sue McLean, who had eleven children. After George and Carrie married, they moved to Newport News, Va., where for many years George worked in the N.N. shipyard. They had seven children. I could continue, but I am seeking information from 1886 to the earlier years. We have details that are sketchy. So, if anyone has any additional information, please share it with myself. |
