DR PAGE was born in Lymington, Maine in 1824 and died of 'inflammation of the bowels' (appendicitis) in 1880. He had a black Newfoundland dog that trained itself to hold a stone in its mouth to refrain from barking at the doctors horse and carriage. It also was credited with saving the life of a child drowning in Penobscot Bay. --- recollection of DR HENRY F. PAGE, Jan 1997

ALPHEUS FELCH PAGE, MD graduated from Bowdoin Medical School in 1849. He practiced in Orland, Maine for two years, then moved to nearby Bucksport in 1851. He appears at 23 in the 1850 Census apparently as a border in Bucksport. He was president of the Maine Medical Association 1873 - 1874.

Alpheus' unkle, Horatio Nelson Page, MD had established his practice in Brewer, Maine across the Penobscot River from Bangor in the 1830's. Alpheus trained with him and subsequently established a practice in neighboring Bucksport. Alpheus' partner in Bucksport was another relation, Dr. Enoch Fessenden.
