You will find much valuable information in the May family tree. In the May line you will find that you can go back to one of the first Virginia colonies to find one William May, probably the earliest May to migrate to America from the British Isles. Note that the British Isles were referred to as just "England" on many geneologies, when in fact the person could have come from Scotland or Northern Ireland or even Ireland itself if the migration was early enough. William May, in fact came from Northern Ireland and originally from Scotland, and was a sept of the MacDonald Clan. This explains to me why my father always said we were "Scotch-Irish" (The emigrants in Ulster who had been placed there by the English when they cleared most of the Highland Clans of Scotland, who were mostly Protestants, which further explains why most of the Scots-Irish of America and especially the South are Protestants. On my mother's side (Sevel), you will find the name Melvin, from the Isle of Skye, Lavinghouse (Laughinghouse) from England, and through the Warren connection you will find Horsington, which has a connection to the Royal English line and thousands of Dukes, Earls, Ladies and Lords in England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. These are verified lines. Thanks for visiting, and feel free to correspond.
