I am researching my husband David May's ancestors and my own ancestors that include Hawkins, MacKenzie, Marshall and Crump.

David's father was born in Canada, but his mother was born in Wales and came to Canada as a war bride. The family names I have found in David's family are Bedford, Larkins, Williams and Thomas. David's grandfather, James Bedford May and his grandmother, Lillian Larkins came from Dover, Kent England. I have been able to find quite a bit of information about the sea-faring Mays, but nothing on the Larkins.

My father's Hawkins family came to Canada from Church Fenton, Yorkshire, England. They farmed on Egremont Road, Warwick Township, Lambton County, Ontario. My grandfather married Amy Heartsease Marshall, a descendent of English Marshalls, Crumps, Howes, Hollands and Burberys.

My mother's family name was MacKenzie. Her father came to Canada at an early age from Dundee, Scotland. He married Elizabeth Prange in Kitchener, Ontario. Elizabeth was a descendent of Swiss Mennonites and German Lutherans. The family names associated with Elizabeth are Prange, Kramp, Reist, Huber, and Mosser.
