She married JOHN WESLEY BLUNT January 19, 1879 in Miller Co. Arkansas, son of WESLEY BLUNT and NARCISSA BISHOP. Notes for L
EILA ARKANSAS DAVIS:
Leila Arkansas Davis married John Wesley Blunt on January 19, 1879 at 3 PM in Miller Co. Arkansas. He was said to be the grandson of a Cherokee Indian Princess. John Wesley Blunt owned a store in Doddridge for a brief period, probably in the early 1900's. The store was located between the Hemperly store and the creek just south of that location.

Leila Davis Blunt was widely known and admired for the gorgeous flowers she grew around her home. Her daughter, Virgie Blunt Peek, was also known and admired for the same reason. They both grew masses of flowers in their yards, and even the edges of their vegetable gardens were banked with flowers of every description. They loved to give flowers to anybody who had a need or an appreciation for them. Virgie Peek gave are loads of flowers to the Bright Star High School for their banquets and graduation ceremonies. She also gave flowers for church services.

Leila's brother, William Timothy Davis, called Bill Davis, and known as "The Bard of Doddridge," because he could quote poetry, Shakespeare, the bible "by the hour," in later years lived at the home of his sister Leila Arkansas Davis Blunt and her husband John Blunt.

According to Opal Rosalie Greene Jones, born 1914, and a life long resident of Doddridge, AR, Leila Arkansas (Artie) Davis Blunt, was a great niece of Jefferson Davis.

BLUNT-DAVIS GREENE FAMILY HISTORY:
In the History of Doddrige, Arkansas, it states on The Families Greene, Blunt and Davis:
On the maternal side, of the Greene family, the descendants can trace back to Great Great Grandfather Jared Blunt, who was from Georgia. He is known to have been a scout for General Sam Houston, and he fought in the battle of San Jacinto in 1836. In the winter of 1838-39, Jared Blunt was an escort for the Indians on "The Trail of Tears" from the Carolinas, Georgia, and Alabama to the Indian Territory in Oklahoma. This was a mass movement of 15,000 Indians carried out by the United States Government. It was a four month journey in the cold of winter, and 4,000 Indians are said to have died on this journey. Some of these Indians died and were buried on the high bluffs of Red River just west of Collins Bluff and Spring Bank. It was during this time also that Jared Blunt married an Indian girl, the daughter of a chief. They had three children: Wesley John, Nelson, and Peggy.

James Thomas Greene came to Doddridge in 1895 and was a master carpenter and farmer. Upon arrival there he lived with the John Wesley Blunt family until 1907. At that time he married Tressa Lee, the daughter of John Wesley and Lelia Arkansas Davis Blunt. James Thomas built several homes in Sulphur Township, and also helped in the rebuilding of Doddridge after most of it was destroyed by fire in 1916.

Wesley John Blunt had two sons, and then he was killed in a Civil War battle in TN. One of these two sons was named John Wesley, and he is the one who came to Doddridge from GA, probably a short time after the civil War.

On January 19, 1879 at 3 PM, John Wesley Blunt and Lelia Arkansas Davis were married. J.W. Blunt was a notary public and listed as a blacksmith on census age 30.

John Wesley Blunt owned a store in Doddridge for a brief period, probably in the early 1900's. The store was located between the Hemperly store and the creek just south of that location.

John Wesley Blunt hired James Thomas Greene, a master carpenter who came from Buena Vista, GA, to work on the farm where he met John and Leila's daughter, Tressa Lee, and they married.

7. REBECCA ELIZABETH2 DAVIS (JARED D.1) was born July 31, 1864 in Bright Star, Lafayette Co. Arkansas (now Miller Co. AR), and died September 28, 1951 in Leon, Love Co. Oklahoma. She married STEVEN WAYNE WHITTINGTON March 24, 1880 in Miller Co. Arkansas, son of MOSES WHITTINGTON and MARGARET STUCKEY. He was born May 05, 1858 in Sulphur Fork, Lafayette Co. Arkansas (now Miller Co. AR), and died September 29, 1948 in Leon, Love Co. Oklahoma.

Notes for R
EBECCA ELIZABETH DAVIS:
Rebecca Elizabeth Davis was the youngest child of Jared D. Davis and Rhonea Martha Philyaw, who may have been half French and half Cherokee. Jared Davis died shortly before the birth of Rebecca Elizabeth in July 1864 in Bright Star, Arkansas, and she was called Lizzie and Bessie by her family. Only Elizabeth's brother William Timothy Davis ever attended school. She and the rest of her siblings never learned to read or write.

Elizabeth married at the young age of 15 and needed her mother's permission to marry Steven Wayne Whittington in March 1880. Steven was the son of Moses Whittington and Margaret Stuckey, close neighbors of the Davis family in Miller County. The young newlyweds lived next to her mother Martha Davis at the time of the 1880 census.

Elizabeth and Steven's first three children were born in Bright Star, Arkansas and then they moved to Illinois Bend, Montague Co. Texas in the late 1880's, where three more of their children were born. In the mid 1890's they moved north into Indian Territory and settled near Leon Township, where they lived the remainder of their lives and their five youngest children were born there. Elizabeth gave birth to a total of 13 children, but two died very young.

Their first born, daughter Rebecca Bell, married William Hall Wooldridge in Leon in June 1900. The following fall Rebecca died of infection after giving birth to her first child; Elizabeth and Steven's first grandchild. The baby granddaughter, Rhonda Vivian Wooldridge born in October 1901, was raised by her Wooldridge grandparents but spent lots of time with her Whittington grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. The youngest three of Elizabeth and Steven's children were younger than their granddaughter Rhonda. In January 1920 when the census was taken, with Steven Whittington's nephew, Joseph Bryan Whittington age 20 serving as census taker, granddaughter Rhonda Vivian Wooldridge 18, was listed living with Elizabeth and Steven Whittington and their four youngest children.

Elizabeth was a member of the Methodist church having joined at an early age. She was a faithful worker in her church as long as her health permitted. Elizabeth died at her home in Leon, Oklahoma at the age of 87 in 1951, and was buried in the Leon Cemetery beside her husband Steven who had predeceased her in 1948. Steven and Elizabeth have a double headstone with both their names located near the grave of their daughter Rebecca Bell.
