She was born Abt. 1820 in Amite Co. Mississippi, and died May 04, 1887 in Franklin Co. Mississippi.

ILLIAM JUDSON WHITTINGTON:
The "Biographical and Historical Memoirs of Mississippi," published in 1891, states that William J. Whittington, was the son of Moses Whittington, an early Amite Co. pioneer from Georgia, 1812 War veteran, and a planter by trade. William J. Whittington married Miss Permelia Bolin, of Amite Co. and the daughter of William Bolin, a War of 1812 Veteran. William engaged in planting near Liberty for a number of years. His wife died in Franklin Co. Mississippi in 1887, after which he moved to Gloster, where he enjoyed fairly good health and unimpaired mental vigor until the end of his life in 1891.

  Notes for NAPOLEON C. WHITTINGTON:
Known as N. C. Whittington, Napoleon was partner in the Whittington Brothers mercantile business with his brother J. Monroe Whittington. N. C. was born near Liberty and went to the best area schools, but finished his education in the New Orleans Commercial college. N. C. volunteered to the call for troops early in the Civil War on April 29, 1861 at Liberty, MS serving in Rigel's Company C of the Seventh
Mississippi Infantry, Confederate States Army. He took part in a number of important engagements, among which were Shiloh, where his clothing was riddled with bullets; Murfreesboro, where he was wounded in the leg by gunshot; Chickmauga, where he was seriously wounded in the shouldar and hand and permanently disabled, and a few other lesser known engagements. He was discharged at Tyner's Station. Soon after this he returned to his home and in 1869 married Miss Anna M. Robertson, a daughter of Joseph Robertson. Anna was born and reared in Jackson, MS and upon her marriage removed with her husband to Natchez, Mississippi. N. C. was engaged in merchandising at this point for about a year, then moved his goods and established a country store in Jefferson Co. for four years. The country store was destroyed by fire and he moved to Mount Zion in Franklin Co. and began farming. He moved to Gloster in Amite Co. in 1885 and was associated in the mercantile business with his brother, their house being one of the first to be established in the area. N. C. and Anna were members of the Methodist Episcopal Church, where his brother J. R. Whittington is the minister.
