Peter Watkins' land was about 3 miles southeast of Squire Boone. In 1753-1757, Peter Watkins sold his land to Morgan Bryan and moved to South Carolina, an area that would become Spartanburg County. Peter later moved to Tryon County, North Carolina which later became Rutherford County.

      705. Elizabeth Whittington, born Abt. 1705 in Somerset Co. Maryland; died in Albemarle Parish, Sussex Co. Virginia. She was the daughter of 1410. William Whittington III and 1411. Elizabeth Taylor.

Notes for John Whittington:
Some sources list John Whittington as the son of Smart Whittington, but this is not true. Smart Whittington died as a young boy, in his teens at the oldest, and did not marry or have children.
John Whittington may be the son of John and Johanna Whittington of Maryland.

Note: John and Elizabeth Whittington probably have more children than currently listed. They may have more sons who are the fathers of Grief Whittington and Jared (Jarrat) Whittington. Or sons Edward and William may also have more children than currently known. So that John and Elizabeth Whittington's grandsons Grief and Jared Whittington can be included in the Whittington Descendancy (even though their father's identities are uncertain) they are listed as the children of "Unknown A. Whittington" and "Unknown B. Whittington."

CHRISTENING RECORDS OF ALBEMARLE PARISH, VIRGINIA list two children born to John and Elizabeth Whittington:
Owen Whittington, born December 13, 1747, Godparents: John Owen, Richard King, Jr. and Elizabeth Sowersberry.
Sarah Whittington, born December 22, 1750, Godparents: Edward Whittington, Mary Enson, and Jane Hern.
I don't know if this is the same John and Elizabeth Whittington who are also the parents of John, Jr., Edward, Mary, Frederick, and Howell Whittington.

  Notes for Elizabeth Whittington:
The lineage of the Elizabeth Whittington who married John Whittington on June 20, 1723 is inconsistant in various records. She is most often listed as the daughter of William Whittington III and Elizabeth Taylor, but there is also the theory that Elizabeth Whittington's parents are Joshua Whittington and Elizabeth Nairn. Elizabeth Whittington (who married John Whittington in 1623) is more likely the sister, rather than the daughter of Joshua Whittington. Joshua was too young to have been Elizabeth's father. He has a daughter also named Elizabeth, but she was born much later, circa 1730-57, and her husband is unknown.

Children of John Whittington and Elizabeth Whittington are:
352 i.   John Whittington, Jr., born Abt. 1724 in Albemarle Co. Virginia; married Sarah Woodroffe Abt. 1740 in Virginia.
ii.   Edward Whittington, born 1726 in Albemarle Co. Virginia; married Penelope; born Abt. 1728.
  Notes for Edward Whittington:
Edward and Penelope Whittington may be the parents of Grief Whittington (1762-1848). Undocumented information from the book "The Whittington Family" by W. W. Whittington.

iii.   William B. Whittington, born 1728 in Albemarle Co. Virginia; married Mary Bef. 1754 in Virginia; born in Virginia.
iv.   Mary Whittington, born in Albemarle Co. Virginia.
  v.   Frederick Whittington, born in Albemarle Co. Virginia.
vi.   Howell Whittington, born in Albemarle Co. Virginia.
vii.   Unknown A. Whittington, born Bet. 1726 - 1735 in Albemarle Co. Virginia.
  Notes for Unknown A. Whittington:
This Unknown Whittington may be the same person as Edward, William B., Frederick, or Howell Whittington. It is not known for certain which of John Whittington (born abt. 1700) and Elizabeth Whittington's (born abt. 1705) sons is the father of Jared (Jarrett) and Grief Whittington.

viii.   Unknown B. Whittington, born Bet. 1726 - 1740 in Albemarle Co. Virginia.
  Notes for Unknown B.

The book "The Whittington Family" by W. W. Whittington states that the parents of Grief Whittington are Edward and Penelope Whittington. This information is unconfirmed.
