Includes NotesNotes for Emma Thurman Heidle:
According to Patricia Keeble Noble, descendant of Emma Thurman Heidle's brother John Carey Heidle, the children of Phillip Thurman Heidle and Mary Britt were one quarter Indian.

Emma married Joseph Jackson Jordan in Georgia about 1878. Their first three children were born in Pike County, Georgia. About 1884 they moved to east Texas and settled first in Wood County and later in Camp County. Emma and J. J. Jordan raised a family of eight children and in 1905 were granted custody of their granddaughter, Evelyn Mae Pruett age 4, after the the deaths of their daughter Rosa Bell and her husband Oscar Farrar Pruett.

Joseph and Emma Jordan moved from Camp Co. Texas to Roosevelt County, New Mexico in 1907 with their family of four kids still living at home plus granddaughter Evelyn Pruett 6. They bought Ozie Pruett's homestead and lived with their eldest son Henry Monroe Jordan and his wife Dora Belle Pruett until their house was built and ready to move into nearby.

Emma Jordan bought and sold land in Hale Co. Texas after her husbands death in 1914. It appears she sold all her land in 1920. In 1922 Emma traveled back home to Georgia to attend a family reunion at the home of her first cousin Martha Lavinia Britt (daughter of Robert Harris Britt) with her sister Mary Ellie of Barnesville, Georgia. Emma, at age 60, was remembered for playing and having so much fun with all the children at the reunion.

Emma lived the last ten years of her life in Amarillo, Texas. She was residing with her youngest daughter Ruth Orrill at 216 West 16th Street in Amarillo when she became ill with Uremia in February 1933. Emma died at St. Anthony's Hospital on March 1, 1933. Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Amarillo conducted final arrangements.
